Short description

Consumers today can choose from a variety of individual home network solutions and home network management systems. For the most part, however, they are difficult to install, expensive, and not compatible with telephony, IT, and Entertain services. In contrast, “HomeNetwork2.0” is an easy-to-install network management technology that enables home networking and systems management with Connected Life and Work applications. The technology can be programmed and tailored to meet individual customers’ requirements and is aimed at fulfilling consumers’ need for more energy efficiency, security, convenience, simplicity, ease of control, and up-to-date information alerts regarding the status of various electronic devices in their homes.

T-City futurist households will be equipped with the innovative technology to give residents the opportunity to test its usability. The application scenarios are endless, and futurist feedback and suggestions for improvement will be integrated into the product. HomeNetwork2.0 makes it possible to control all household electrical appliances via the Homegateway, from anywhere and at any time.

Project goal

HomeNetwork2.0 will be tested and refined based on extensive user experience and usage habits. Furthermore, the home network management solution will support the integration of telephony, IT, and Entertain services into the overall home network system management framework. HomeNetwork2.0 will also result in the implementation of new solutions and services that will expand the existing Connected Life and Work portfolio.

Benefits

Customers can access and operate electrical appliances in the home from any place and at any time. The mobile, inexpensive, and easy-to-install technology can also be customized or expanded to suit customers’ individual operational requirements and budgets. In addition to offering users intelligent control technology, HomeNetwork2.0 is energy efficient, secure and easy to use.

The network management solution has created an entry point for Deutsche Telekom and Deutsche Telekom Technical Service in a growing market and also compliments and expands Connected Life and Work offerings for the home. New and existing customers will benefit through connectivity and accessibility to all Deutsche Telekom services as Deutsche Telekom cements its position as a broadband market leader.

Project status

The T-City HomeNetwork2.0 project is currently in the planning phase. Futurist households will be equipped with the technology starting in May 2010.
